Video: Nancy Pelosi’s Taiwan Visit: China’s Muted Response

The huge rhetoric that the Chinese let loose before Nancy Pelosi visited Taiwan, possibly led to a fairly large Chinese populace believing that China might even opt for a hard military option. However, the Chinese leadership was more circumspect leading to the man on the street wondering is that all their country could do. The entire episode has a lot of takeaways for India. Should China decide it cannot possibly annex Taiwan by force, the next big option that it has is turning towards the Line of Control with India. However, that’s not an easy option, either. China’s attempted climb to a superpower status has enough impediments ahead.
